Bonnie here, reporting from Taos, New Mexico where I live. Yes, Linda and I seem to always have had wanderlust and especially love Britain and Ireland. I think that trip to England waaaay back in 1978 was our first together. And, hard to believe this now, but we actually hitchhiked around England. What were we thinking? And this was a time when the so-called Yorkshire Ripper was killing young women. Whoa. But we were young and adventurous. Now we're old and adventurous, but would never hitchhike!
TREKS OF THE MCMANAE
We are sisters who are lucky to enjoy each other’s company, and who really enjoy travelling together. When we were older and living far apart, we decided to get together periodically and discover new and old places together. Our English friend Bernard had always greeted us with “Ahhh! the McManae sisters!,” McManae being the pluralized Latin female version of McManus, and so The Treks of the McManae began.

The Beginning
Linda Our journeys together began in 1953 when I was born, fat and bald. At two weeks, around April 13, Mom snapped a photo of Bonnie holding me. Couldn’t do that now, though.
Our actual travelling together, other than family trips, began in the 1970s, with a trip to England and Europe. Both of us were ardent Anglophiles, having spent quite a lot of time after the Beatles’ music came to the west coast in 1963 haunting the Huntington Gallery in San Marino, trying to decide which long-haired guy in what 18C painting was the sexiest. I was in love with Jonathan Buttall, the Blue Boy.
